

A brand for the global good.
Positioning a leader. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the largest philanthropic foundation in the world. We developed communications guidelines for the foundation, establishing design, tone, and messaging that was appropriate and consistent across all platforms.
Conversation piece. We designed this high-impact overview brochure as the foundation’s central printed communications piece—to express its spirit and values, convey the urgency of its mission and the uniqueness of its strategy, and make its key messages unmistakable.
The size of it. The brochure’s unexpected large size commands attention. It underscores the scale, urgency, and importance of the foundation’s work and provides a sizable canvas for the photography and typography to have full impact. The lightweight, uncoated paper is recyclable and immediate, like a newspaper, and helps the piece maintain modesty despite being oversized.
An ongoing story. We applied the design system to a wide range of vehicles, including program brochures, electronic newsletters, and internal communications.
